Most psychiatry assumes an otherwise healthy patient. That assumption fails in people who have had strokes, heart disease, cancer, or transplants, in patients on anticoagulation or immunosuppression, in advanced kidney or liver disease, and in other chronic systemic illness. Consultation-liaison psychiatry is the subspecialty that manages those cases inside the hospital. This practice does it in the outpatient setting.
The practice
I am a psychiatrist in Livingston, New Jersey. I completed fellowship training in consultation-liaison psychiatry at Yale New Haven Hospital, which is the branch of the field concerned with psychiatric illness in patients who are also medically ill, and with the drug interactions, organ dysfunction and diagnostic ambiguity that come with it.
I hold licences in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. If you live in Essex County and work in Manhattan, that means an appointment can happen from your desk at 7:00 a.m. rather than from your kitchen at 8:00 p.m., and it does not require a day off.

Diagnostic reassessment
Second opinions on unclear or treatment-resistant presentations, including cases where a medical, neurological or medication-related cause has not been excluded.
Ongoing psychopharmacology
Longitudinal medication management for adults, at appointment lengths that allow the history to be taken properly.

Insurance
This practice does not participate in any insurance network. Payment is made to the practice directly at the time of the appointment. Fees are provided in writing before a first appointment is scheduled.
